Training Update - Dead Legs

Really shitty run on Saturday. Legs were hurting and dead all week but Saturday was plain demoralizing, especially since it was only 14 miles. On the plus side I just said “only 14 miles” out loud and meant it. It’s still weird to me that I go out and run for a few hours at a time. That is something that happens.

I’m gonna chalk it up to lack of hydration and nutrition. I was out later than I should have been on Friday but I think it’s practically impossible to turn down a Devo and Blondie concert at a winery. That said I’ll also note that going to a concert at a winery and not drinking wine isn’t enjoying the fully optimized experience. Have I not mentioned that I’ve gone dry? Let me write a separate post about that.

Next week is peak training. The plan I’m on now maxes out at 20 miles. I’m not sure how to feel about that. It really seems like I should have a longer run. I’ll not question it though. With all the injuries this summer I’ll be happy to make it to the start line in one piece… Then do whatever it takes to make it to the finish line.

I’m really tired and I want a beer. 28 days to go…

Training Summary: September 3 - September 9
